Seattle shipping container projects and shipping container related businesses

Humble Pie – Seattle shipping container restaurant. One of the earliest repurposed shipping container projects in Seattle is the Humble Pie pizzeria which opened its cargo doors way back in July of 2013. Owner Brian Solazzi not only makes a tasty pie, but his background is as a LEED-certified architect. Solazzi performed all of the design, excavation, construction, and even some of the plumbing and electrical work. He even built the chairs and picnic benches for the diners. Humble Pie is built out of two shipping containers, and diners get a kick out of eating in a renovated cargo container is neat.

The list of environmentally conscious building features is impressive: made from FSC certified lumber and 2 recycled Conex containers, electrical power by 18 WA-made solar pv panels on site, remaining energy requirements come from wind in partnership with Cascadia Energy, collect and process 100% of rain water on site, using 2 green roofs, 100% LED lighting, 8gpf Niagara single flush toilet, high efficiency tankless water heater, 100% of what Humble Pie serves is recyclable or compostable, ZERO waste policy. Humble Pie encourages their customers to build up an appetite by walking and biking to the restaurant, and provide parking for 18 bicycles. Seattle shipping container offices

CTA Design Builders Inc. are the Seattle based developers behind an innovative concept to provide business office space in Georgetown – by converting used shipping containers into a backyard office. The sea container office is a 2 story building with one Conex box stacked on top of another and connected together. The lower container contains shower and a kitchenette with a view of the green garden in the yard behind the office. The south side of the office is an unheated storage space opened by the original container doors. The upper container is the full-length office space and small deck / rooftop garden lies on top of the roof. The builder selected “one-trip” containers for the office project – saving over buying a new container – but without the damage accrued by more seasoned containers that have been shipped on many trips. The minimalist design eliminates the costs of siding, roofing, or structure – saving the three largest budget numbers in construction.

The Conex container renovations are completed off site, i.e. window openings, steel reinforcements, etc. before the containers are transported to the lot. Even the interiors can be pre-fabricated and only assembly is required once the container office is dropped on site where it rests on a 18? thick concrete mat slab. Mobile shipping container offices are used for multiple different needs: Most larger construction developments require a temporary construction office – an ideal use for a repurposed shipping container. The movable container box office provides a convenient place to have construction crew meetings and storage space for files and plans needed on-site. Break Rooms and Cafeteria: A container office may also be used as a break or lunch room for workers who need shelter from the weather. Special Events: Mobile office containers can be employed for special events and get together’s that are held in parks or parking lots. Event managers need a dry, secure space to run and organize the event in a temporary operations center. Businesses sometimes need temporary space for operations while having work done on your building that has adequate security for business assets and property. During a renovation when your business needs to temporarily hold items to be transported later or thrown away at a later time.
